Sea Kayaking/Trekking Guide (Xania - Crete)

We are looking for outdoor adventure enthusiasts that want to combine pleasure with work. Our clientèle is mostly small groups of adult novices primarily from Germany but also the rest of the world as well, whom we provide with a safe and enjoyable wilderness experience cruising the spectacular southern coast lines of Crete. German language in not a requirement but would be of great use.

Guiding duties include giving commentaries on sights, area, local knowledge and the personality to deliver it are desirable assets. All our trips are one day or overnight. You will be expected to wash, maintain gear, kayaks and help and help out in our small 6 room hotel occasionally. The trekking portion of this job involves light day hikes in the local area. You will have the opportunity to learn all the trails once your on site.

The following are a list of skills that we look for.

The most important, that you know how to have fun on the water.

The ability to perform self rescue from wet exit to re-entry, rolling can be learned on the job if you do not know how to already.

The ability to stabilize a kayak in choppy conditions using low and high braces and sculling for support.

Working knowledge with tandem and solo kayaks.

Purposeful movement of a kayak in all directions using paddle and edging, without the use of a rudder in rough seas.

With this job goes salary + shared room and partial board. Job runs from May to October.
This is a great fun job in one of the most beautiful locations on Crete.
